Tech Dude John Springer
If it plugs in or flushes, it's mine.
John Springer is responsible for computer technology and the facility: the Donkey Stable. In addition to providing technical support for staff, he manages the Voter File, web system, and activist database.
In high school in Idaho, sometime back in the last century, John joined the Young Republicans, rubbing shoulders with some of Idaho's most distasteful, narrow-minded folks, like Phil Reberger, Steve Symms, and Butch Otter. As a freshman in college, John recognized the error of his ways, repented, and has been a straight-ticket Democratic voter since 1968.
John earned a Master's Degree in Chemistry from Oregon State University in 1969, after which he vowed never to pick up another test tube as long as he lived, one promise he has managed to keep. He somehow wrangled a job in the marketing department of Fairchild Semiconductor, the birthplace of the semiconductor industry, where he sold chips to Hughes Aircraft and organized groups of engineers to go to San Francisco for anti-war marches.
He was with Advanced Micro Devices for 13 years and Integrated Device Technology for 5 years, holding the position of Corporate Marketing Manager at both companies. Eventually, a job with a biotechnology firm gave him the opportunity to move back to Oregon in the late 90s. Along the way he lost money in a surf shop in California and a motel and convenience store in Yachats. John is apparently missing some essential business skills. John says it was a learning experience.
John's first political campaign was knocking on doors for Rep. Mitch Greenlick in 2000, and he still has the Greenlick hat, thank you Mitch. In 2001 he began assisting the DPO on a volunteer basis. In 2002 he managed the voter file for the coordinated campaign, and in 2003 he came to work full time for the party.
John loves Democrats, Dogs, Oregon, Macintosh computers, Scotland, Bock Beer, and anything with horseradish on it.
