PORTLAND, OREGON - Barack Obama's Campaign for Change will hold office opening events across the state of Oregon on Thursday, July 24th. The events are open to the public and will begin after work hours. The office openings on Thursday will bring the total thus far to six offices, with more to come in the next few weeks.

As Republicans celebrate the grand opening of their campaign headquarters in Lake Oswego tonight, I'd like to know what is the state GOP actually celebrating?

Portland - The Democratic Party of Oregon is airing a new TV ad urging Oregonians to call members of Congress and tell them we need to do a better job of balancing the budget and serving the middle class.

Portland - Gordon Smith and Jeff Merkley come from two very different places and fight for two very different things.

Smith favors tax cuts for the wealthy and big oil companies and denies tax cuts to the middle class. Now he is running the most negative campaign in the country, deceiving voters about Merkley's record cutting taxes for working families.

Portland - Allen Alley's business failures and political inexperience have landed him right in the DPO's crosshairs.

The website, www.alanalley.com, focuses on the Republican State Treasurer candidate's business troubles and inexperience managing public funds.

Portland - Oregon's delegation to the Democratic National Convention in Denver has met or exceeded every DPO and DNC diversity representation goal.

"Oregon's delegation reflects the diversity of our state and our party," DPO Chair Meredith Wood Smith said. "Equality is a proud cornerstone of the Democratic Party and I'm so pleased our delegation embodies our values."

Denver will host the national convention from August 25-28.

Portland - Oregon's Speaker of the House and Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Jeff Merkley discussed his plans to fight for Oregon's working families and against the special interests in Washington, D.C. at the Democratic Party of Oregon's state convention today at Western Oregon University in Monmouth.

"For too long politicians like George Bush and Gordon Smith have served only the lobbyists and most powerful special interests," Merkley said to the 275 Democrats. "They have ignored the needs of hardworking families in every corner of the state. I have spent my life fighting the special interests to create real opportunity for hardworking families and delivering for communities throughout Oregon. I will continue that work as your U.S. Senator."

Portland - Nearly two dozen of the Democratic Party of Oregon's delegation to the Democratic National Convention in Denver will be chosen on Saturday, June 21 at the DPO's State Convention.

At the beginning of the convention, Oregon's Speaker of the House and U.S. Senate nominee Jeff Merkley will address the state delegates.
