Oregon Exceeds Diversity Goals For Democratic National Convention

Portland - Oregon's delegation to the Democratic National Convention in Denver has met or exceeded every DPO and DNC diversity representation goal.

"Oregon's delegation reflects the diversity of our state and our party," DPO Chair Meredith Wood Smith said. "Equality is a proud cornerstone of the Democratic Party and I'm so pleased our delegation embodies our values."

Denver will host the national convention from August 25-28.

U.S. Senate Nominee Jeff Merkley Addresses State Convention

Portland - Oregon's Speaker of the House and Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Jeff Merkley discussed his plans to fight for Oregon's working families and against the special interests in Washington, D.C. at the Democratic Party of Oregon's state convention today at Western Oregon University in Monmouth.

"For too long politicians like George Bush and Gordon Smith have served only the lobbyists and most powerful special interests," Merkley said to the 275 Democrats. "They have ignored the needs of hardworking families in every corner of the state. I have spent my life fighting the special interests to create real opportunity for hardworking families and delivering for communities throughout Oregon. I will continue that work as your U.S. Senator."


U.S. SENATE NOMINEE JEFF MERKLEY TO ADDRESS STATE CONVENTION ON JUNE 21

Portland - Nearly two dozen of the Democratic Party of Oregon's delegation to the Democratic National Convention in Denver will be chosen on Saturday, June 21 at the DPO's State Convention.

At the beginning of the convention, Oregon's Speaker of the House and U.S. Senate nominee Jeff Merkley will address the state delegates.
