Op-Ed from DPO Chair Meredith Wood Smith

After years of partisan gridlock, Democrats gained control of Oregon's
House, Senate and governor's office and led a legislative session that
political watchers say was the most progressive and productive in
decades. They did it on time, within budget and with Oregon values in
mind.

From fully funding K-12 and higher education to passing sweeping
environmental, health care, equal rights and consumer protection laws,
Democratic leaders improved the lives of Oregonians. Long-overdue,
forward-thinking legislation that had been bottled up for years by
Republicans finally saw the light of day and made it into law.
